JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Manager, Rehabilitation Services and/or Clinical Supervisor, performs the following functions: Evaluates patients referred to Occupational Therapy. Plans, organizes, and implements individualized therapeutic programs with patient/family, based on Occupational Theories and frames of reference. Observes, reports, and records patient progress and response to treatment. Participates in general departmental maintenance activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Demands Graduate of Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association. Current professional registration/certification with national professional body. Licensed by the State of Ohio. Current demonstrated clinical proficiency. Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden change in load in order to support patient from falling during functional mobility training. Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patients arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program. Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse. Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements. Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may not be able to read. Ability to hear or understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment. Experience: Minimum of six months of clinical experience n connection with the completion of a degree, including at least three of those months in a physical disabilities setting.
